Learn How to Travel on a Budget

Money is the main reason why people are hesitant to go on a vacation, hike a mountain, go camping, island hopping, swim on a white sand beach and relax at a five-star hotel. Some people travel alone to save money and limit their spending during a trip, yet isn’t it fun to have friends or family to share your happiness with?

Traveling is fun and relaxing. It keeps you away from the busy street and pile of paper works. A different kind of stress reliever and experience, but there is a catch: You will need to save for it and spend it for fares, accommodation, and food.  So a thought came up on your mind, “How can I travel if I am on a budget? Will I  still go for it?"

No Budget? No Problem!

Being happy and enjoying life doesn’t have to be expensive. You don’t have to spend too much to see the beauty of the world by traveling. Yes, money should be involved but it mustn’t stop you to get what you want. Here are some tips for you to conquer the fear to travel when on a tight budget:

1. Save before planning

Budgeting your salary is not that easy. You will have to divide them wisely.  You have to save some for your food and daily expenses. Yet, for a traveler, they have a piggy bank for travel adventures.

So, why not save a separate budget for leisure and recreation early before traveling?

2. Plan before booking

So now that you already have enough money on your travel piggy bank, time to spend it. Plan ahead.
Choose your destination depending on the amount of money on your piggy bank. If it is local, then the expenses should not be that high but if you plan to travel abroad, then you have to save a little more of what you have in your piggy bank right now.

3. Stop buying millions of souvenirs

Souvenirs during travel are nice but don’t spend too much for it. It is not good to be impulsive during traveling. It can drain your cash. Stop thinking about everyone! When I say everyone, that includes your family, friends, cousins, workmates, classmates, neighbors; literally, everyone!

4. No to 5-star hotels and hundred dollar food

Checking in on five-stars or luxurious hotel is a big "No-no" when traveling, unless, it is what you really wanted.  Travelers prefer to explore the place rather than sleeping in an expensive hotel room.

Travelers prefer street food and cheap restaurants to eat and recharge.  It doesn’t have to be always turkey and salad. It's not Thanksgiving dear! Try something you haven’t eaten yet on your whole life but on a reasonable price, usually a local delicacy would be best.

5. Piso fare is the best!

The Internet is the best tool for travelers. Here, they will look for the best and cheapest price for flights. Sometimes, they get the promo and discounts which are really wise. Forget to be on a first class airplane and look forward to experiencing the fun and thrill of traveling.

Don’t use taxis during your vacation, unless no other means of transportation. Walking is the best to explore the place as you get to see hidden places that sometimes unseen, but if you have to walk from Luzon to Mindanao, have pity on yourself and take a ride.

6. Haggle almost all the time

Learn to haggle. This is something you should have learned from your parents. When you were little I bet you have an "Oh my God Mom, nakakahiya!" moment when your parents are trying to haggle with every stuff in the market. They don't stop until they meet in between, do the same.

7. Backpacking is not moving out

Don’t over pack. Make sure to check all the things you need before traveling. Put enough clothes and undergarments. Extra luggage is equal to additional fee during a flight. That's why they have the term "Backpacking" because you don't want to bring your whole cabinet and fridge when traveling unless you are moving out for good.

Enjoy and have fun!

Most importantly, is to feel the happiness and satisfaction of life. See the beauty of the world around you and clear your mind on everything that is happening. Enjoy life to the fullest. After all, we live to live and not live to die.

Book a flight now!

Already convinced that you can travel without spending too much? If so, prepare your luggage and let’s take off and conquer the world!
